Job Category: Airport Management & Administrative We have a wide variety of career opportunities around the world — come find yours.   Airport Operations   The Airport Operations department keeps operations at our airports running smoothly through planning, organization and supervision.   Job overview and responsibilities   As a Senior Program Manager of Airport Operations at our Houston HUB, you’ll drive the transformation of Airport Operations processes through continuous improvement.   Accountable for helping Houston (IAH) identify, design a solution for, and implement process changes in the Airport operating environment, you’ll provide analytical process evaluation and research services to design and/or improve processes. You’ll work with frontline as well as departmental leadership to identify root causes, develop short and long term solutions and implement lasting change. Projects range in duration and complexity from quick analyses lasting two to three weeks to large scale transformative efforts that last four to six months. This role would also be responsible with helping guide the deployment and development of business cases to support strategic direction.
  • Act as the liaison between the Hub VP and onsite teams and offices, serving as the point of contact for collecting and sharing requested information between operational groups
  • Responsible for the day-to-day administrative and reporting details of assigned projects
  • Utilize project management tools and industrial techniques to lead, develop and oversee the maintenance of project scope; customer and executive expectations as well as overall project focus
  • Lead, coach, and advise the recommended course of action in monthly presentations for senior executives plus other core teams within the airport
  • Organize the communication of the project plan status on a regular basis to project stakeholders and core teams
  • Continue to re-establish goals and adjust work processes based on shifting priorities and new information
  • Manage and participate in the study of operational needs and current operational performance to determine optimal working procedures and systems, and identify areas for improvement and efficiency
  • Design and manage efforts to benchmark United’s program against other corporations’ in general and airlines’ in particular
  • Participate in succession planning, training, evaluation and development for operational team personnel
  • Remains current with industry trends
  • Bachelor’s degree (Preferably Business, Project Management or Airline related) and/or equivalent work experience
  • Effective Verbal and Written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
  • Detail oriented with excellent analytical, financial and spreadsheet modeling skills
  • Create PowerPoint presentations and present to various audiences
  • Ability to network with all levels of leadership including influencing their decision
  • Intermediate level knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint (Test will be administered during interview) 
  • Extensive knowledge of operations, management and logistics
  • Advanced knowledge and skills related to project management
  • 5+ years of experience in a strategic operational role (airline/airport related preferred) 
  • 3+ years of leadership experience with projects and influencing senior level management and key stakeholders
  • Proven track record for decisive action backed by strategic planning, continuous improvement, analytical thinking, goal-directed leadership and service-oriented performance
  • Willing and able to travel as needed for business (Up to 10%)
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
  • 4+ years’ of experience in the airline industry
